Profil Evand Halim

Evand Halim, M.Hum is a linguist, legal English & ESL specialist, and an experienced teacher trainer. He graduated cum laude from the Graduate School of Applied English Linguistics, Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia. His longstanding academic and professional engagement with legal language and translation has positioned him as a leading authority on legal English and legal translation in Indonesia.

Evand is a sworn and authorized translator in the Republic of Indonesia and is also a certified translator and interpreter accredited by the Association of Indonesian Translators (HPI). He previously served as Vice Chair of HPI’s Competency and Certification Committee from 2013 to 2016 and currently continues to contribute to the advancement of the profession as an active member of the same committee. In addition, Evand holds a certificate in “Teaching English for Law” from Nashville State Community College, a program supported by the Office of English Language Programs, U.S. Department of State.

Evand is currently teaching LEGAL TRANSLATION, LEGAL DRAFTING, and ENGLISH FOR LAW both at Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia and in a number of prominent companies and firms in Indonesia. Besides, he regularly facilitates professional development workshops and specialized training programs for various institutions, including the Cabinet Secretariat of the Republic of Indonesia, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Law, PPHBI (Pusat Pengembangan Hukum dan Bisnis Indonesia), and faculties of law at numerous universities.

Evand is also a faculty member at the Graduate School of Applied English Linguistics, Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia, teaching Translation in the Master’s program. Besides, he is also currently on the Board of Examiners for the Sworn Translator Qualifying Exam, helping to uphold the integrity and excellence of the profession.
